Ciao everyone! Today we want to share a little on our first events of 2020, which so far have all been very close to home!

Glossop is ten minutes from where we live and just over the border into Derbyshire. We’ve recently been working a lot with Glossop Creates, an initiative led by Glossop Creative Trust. They focus on creating a network of local business owners to form collaborations, organise local events and share ideas. We’re really happy to be a part of it!

Our first event of 2020 took place in late January at Harvey Leonard’s. They’re a specialist wine bar and shop selling beautiful wines from across the world and a selection of craft beers, including many from local breweries. They regularly host wine-tasting evenings in their bar and invited us along to provide some delicious Italian food to accompany a selection of great wines from Southern Italy.

The event sold out in 48 hours!

To complement the wines on offer for the evening, guests got to share a selection of our famous home-cured meats, Italian cheeses and Tigellae bread. Aubergines are a staple of southern Italian cooking, especially in Sicily, so we followed up our sharing boards with handmade tortelli pasta filled with aubergine and walnut.

Following the success of the Harvey Leonard’s event, in February 2020 we also teamed up with The Oakwood, the prettiest pub on Glossop high street, for a kitchen takeover. We had a full house here too, and by the end of the evening Giordano’s fitness tracker told him he’d completed 63 flights of stairs thanks to the pub’s quirky upstairs kitchen!

Our customers were able to pre-book their food for this event, and once again many chose our meat and cheese boards to share. This was the scene just prior to the beginning of service, after more than half an hour of careful arranging!

We received some great feedback from customers at The Oakwood, and one of our main suppliers who attended the event told us that many customers had remarked that not only had they really enjoyed the dishes, it was also the most relaxed and organised takeover anyone has ever done!

At the time of writing this it’s still possible to book spots for our next kitchen takeover at The Oakwood on the 21st of April 2020, and you can do that right here!

You can still find us in our little restaurant at The Harewood Arms every weekend too. If you haven’t been before, this blog post will tell you everything you need to know!

See you soon!
