We are Laura and Giordano and together we founded Tigellae. We are passionate about traditional, regional Italian food and its origins.

With the help of our Vanstaurant (our mobile kitchen on the road), we offer bespoke mobile catering and bar services in our home of Manchester and beyond.

In April 2019 we took over the kitchen at the Harewood Arms in Broadbottom, where we serve beautiful sharing platters, pasta dishes, delicious desserts and much more.

We believe Italian food can make you happy and we want to show you how wonderful and diverse it really is. That’s why we decided to create Tigellae and are proud of our journey so far. And we are full of ideas for the future.

Whatever the event and whatever the occasion, we want to leave you feeling eager to explore Italy and its cuisine a little bit more than when you arrived.

Our name is taken from the tigella, a medieval, round flatbread originating from Modena in northern Italy, which is a place we feel very connected to – we still have friends there and Giordano’s dad is from there too.

Tigelle are served in a basket and accompanied by all kinds of different meats, cheeses and sauces. They are most definitely for sharing with your favourite people. That’s why we love them and couldn’t think of a better word for expressing everything we wanted this adventure to be.

Officially, our name is pronounced “ti-jell-eh”, but we’ve heard quite a few variations on this in the past!

If you want to read more about the origins of our name, Giordano has written a lovely blog post about it.

Laura bambina

• Laura (front of house) is from Manchester and fell in love with Italy’s language, scenery and great food during a 2-week holiday on Lake Garda at the age of 17. She decided to become fluent in Italian so she would have an excuse to go back there, and so far she’s pretty convinced she will never finish her Italian journey.

Giordano bambino

• Giordano (head chef) is from northern Italy and has a real passion for food and travel. He grew up in a family with their own history in the restaurant business, so he’s been learning about Italian cuisine from a very early age. His father has been a chef for more than 40 years in some of Italy’s best restaurants, and he’s decided to follow in his footsteps.

  1. Hi, could you tell me whether you could supply your Italian food to our village Hall in north Shropshire, near Whitchurch in late June. We love the idea of holding an Italian restaurant evening.

    1. Hi Peter, thanks for getting in touch with us and I’m sorry I’ve only just picked up your reply.
This sounds like a lovely idea, however we are very busy with weddings and regular work commitments in Greater Manchester around that time and won’t be able to travel to your event.
We wish you the best of luck with organising your Italian restaurant evening!
      Kind regards,
      Laura
